SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. -- The Laramie Little League All-Stars broke an eight-game Western Regional Tournament losing skid, stopping North Boise, Idaho, 5-4 to open up the Northwest Regionals Friday morning at Al Houghton Stadium.
The Wyoming team got home runs from Robbie Harding and Brian Lopez Jr. in the win. Lopez reached base three times and scored two runs for Wyoming. His solo home run in the fourth gave Laramie a 2-1 lead.
Idaho rallied in the fifth with three runs, including a two-run single by Landon Peterson. Garrett Peterson later doubled to score Landon. Idaho looked like it was going to get a fourth run but the umpires ruled a base hit as a foul ball.
Laramie took advantage and scored three times in the sixth. With Lopez on after a walk, Harding homered to tie the game. Dylan Lopez singled and later scored on a wild pitch to give Wyoming the lead.
The Laramie All-Stars return to action on Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. against Oregon. The game will be a streamline broadcast on the San Bernardino Sun Website at http://www.sbsun.com/.
