COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Through the first two rounds of the 2008 fall season, the Wyoming men’s golf team is in an eighth-place tie at the Air Force Falcon Invitational at the Eisenhower Golf Club.

For the Cowboys, sophomore Zach Zaremba is tied for ninth place with a 143. As a team, the Cowboys shot a first round score of 297 and a second round score of 293 on Saturday. They are currently 14-over par.

With these being the first two rounds of the fall, it feels pretty good to have a solid day and find ourselves in the upper half of the field,” said UW golf coach Joe Jensen. “Zach (Zaremba) had a good day and is under par and Gabe (Maier) and Phil (Henzlik) are just over par. We are looking forward to tomorrow and hopefully we can improve our scores, catch a couple of teams and move up in the standings.”

Zaremba shot a one-under par 71 in the morning’s opening round and a second round par score of 72. He is in a two-man tie for ninth and is five strokes off of the lead. Sophomores Maier (146) and Henzlik (148) are hovering just above par.

As a team, the Cowboys are tied with Utah State and Weber State at 14-over par. Colorado State and UNLV are tied for the tournament lead with 16-under par scores of 560.

The final 18 holes begin on Sunday at 8:15 a.m.
